DreamForce 2014 | The Ultimate Guide
September 29, 2014
Dreamforce is right around the corner, and vendors from all over the world are gearing up to take the expo floor by storm. Prepare to hustle.
- Knowledge – Embrace the organized chaos. Immerse yourself in the expo frenzy, feed off the energy of each session, and soak up keynotes from a comfortable vantage point (viewing parties are often far less crowded). Leave time for spontaneous networking and don’t fret over missed sessions, most are recorded.
- Power – Your laptops and smartphones will need plenty of energy. Feed them strategically and bring a surge protector or external battery pack for extra assurance.
- Packing – Travel lightly. San Francisco weather calls for packing layers and an umbrella, just in case. Comfortable shoes are a must, the average DF attendee walks over 5 miles per day (read: no heels).
- Gadgets – Bring a laptop if necessary, but a tablet or smartphone with Evernote and the DF app downloaded should do the trick.
- Map the Campus – Learn the general layout of DF beforehand, it’ll take the chaos out of all those caffeinated cross-campus jaunts.
- Fuel– Last year, approximately 5,000 gallons of coffee were served at DF. This year, the liquid black gold will continue to flow. While on your caffeine buzz, stay hydrated and take advantage of the complimentary lunches, evening appetizers, and more that come with flashing your registration badge. Plan ahead and stockpile emergency snacks for midday energy crashes.
- Networking – 1 quality connection resulting in a massive deal is worth more than 20 quick scans that resulted in 0 conversions. Quality, qualified leads are the gold standard. Snag them everywhere, from the expo floor to after-parties and staircase introductions. Become lightening fast at qualifying leads and practice until your DF pitches are second nature.
- After-Hours – Register with the Apttus event calendar to stay up-to-date on the latest DF parties and galas.
